FR-500 is a new type of flame retardant that is a compound system of phosphorus, nitrogen, and bromine. It has several advantages, including no precipitation, being environmentally friendly, and requiring a low amount. Additionally, it has low bromine content and is more cost-effective than the commonly used bromine-antimony flame retardant system, as it does not require the addition of antimony trioxide. FR-500 also complies with RoHS, REACH, PAHS and other regulatory requirements.

FR-500 can be used in both copolymer and homopolymer PP, as well as in PP systems filled with substances such as talc or barium sulfate. However, it is not suitable for use in calcium carbonate filling systems.

Ø  In polypropylene (PP) copolymer:

A dose of 2% to 5% FR-500 is typically sufficient for electrical compounds with thicknesses ranging from 0.8mm to 3.2mm to achieve the UL 94 V-2 classification. The glow wire is non-flammable at 750°C GWFI, and the compounds can also pass the 960°C Glow Wire Flammability Index (GWFI) test.

When the dosage of FR-500 is between 1% and 5%, the modified PP material can meet halogen-free requirements, with a bromine content of less than 900PPM. Additionally, there is no precipitation when the flame retardant is in use.


FR-500 can be used in a variety of applications, including heater housing, heater impeller, air drum, surge protector, coil skeleton, and polypropylene propylene spinning.
