FR-MCA
Non-halogenated Flame Retardant
Product Description:
FR-MCA is a series of non-halogenated flame retardants based on melamine compound with cyanuric acid (MCA). This series of products achieves flame retardancy by synergistic effect. FR-MCA is suitable for applications such as thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), polyamide (nylon/ PA), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)/ polyethylene terephthalate (PET), acrylic coating, adhesives and sealants, and etc.
Specifications:
| Characteristics | Unit | FR-MCA5 | FR-MCA10 | FR-MC25S |
| Appearance | white powder | white powder | ||
| Melamine | ppm | <500 | <500 | <500 |
| Moisture/ Water | % (w/w) | <0.2 | <0.2 | <0.2 |
| Decomposition Temperature | ℃ | >310 | >310 | >310 |
| Average Particle Size (D50) | μm | 1-2 | 2-3 | 3-8 |
Applications:
FR-MCA5 is a fine-grained melamine cyanurate flame retardant, particularly suitable for the small particle sized applications like adhesives and sealants in epoxy resin, and textile and spinning in nylon system.
FR-MCA10 is the typical melamine cyanurate flame retardant, widely suitable for the use in PA, PET/PBT, TPE,TPU, acrylic coating, and adhesives in epoxy resin system, with benefits on good dispersibility, and no white patches. This product achieves its synergistic effect by combination with organic phosphinate flame retardants.
FR-MCA25S is the modified melamine cyanurate with large particle size, particularly suitable for the use in nylon 6 or 66 system, a dosage of approx. 12/15% (by wt.) addition is usually sufficient to obtain the UL94 V-0 classification (1.6 or 0.8mm respectively).
Note: ◎:recommended;○:applicable.

Packing and Storage:
Delivery form:
White powder.
Packing:
FR-MCA is packed in paper-plastic bags with polyethylene inliner, 20kg per package.
Stotage:
FR-MCA must be sealed, stored in a dry and cool place.
Description
The MCA series flame retardant is a high-purity melamine cyanurate with a high nitrogen content. It is often used as a spumific compound in intumescent flame retardants to isolate oxygen and promote carbonization, resulting in better flame retardant synergy.
To meet the varying application needs of different customers, FR-MCA offers MCA10 and MCA25 series products.
Typical Properties
Physical Properties | Unit | Target Value
Appearance | White powder
Average Particle Size (D50) | MCA10 | μm | 2 |
MCA25 | μm | 6 | |
Water/Moisture | % | 0.2 | |
Decomposition Temperature | ℃ | 310
Usage
Ø As a spumific compound:
The synergistic flame retardant effect can be improved by combining FR-MCA with acid donors such as ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and aluminum diethyl-phosphinate (ADP).
Ø In flame retardant systems:
FR-MCA can be used with various polymers such as EVA, PE, PA, TPE, PBT, PP, and EPDM.
Packaging & Storage
Paper-plastic composite packaging. 20 kg per package.
The product must be sealed, kept dry, dust-free, and cool.
