FR-ZDP
Non-halogenated Organic Phosphinate Flame Retardant
Product Description:
FR-ZDP is a white powdery non-halogenated flame retardant based on high-purity zinc diethylphosphinate. This product has good thermal stability and flame retardant effect thanks to high phosphorus content. FR-ZDP has excellent compatibility with resins, particularly suitable for the use in polyesters, such as injection molding in polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)/ polyethylene terephthalate (PET), textile and spinning in PET, film, etc.
| Characteristics | Unit | Target Value |
| Appearance | White Powder | |
| Chemical Formula | C8H20O4P2Zn | |
| CAS No. | 284685-45-6 | |
| Bulk Density | kg/m3 | 400-600 |
| Phosphorus | % (w/w) | 20.0-21.0 |
| Moisture/ Water | % (w/w) | < 0.2 |
| Average Particle Size, D50 | μm | 30-50 |
| Decomposition Temperature | ℃ | > 350 |
Applications:
FR-ZDP is suitable for the use in the permanent flame retarded PET, such as polyester chips, polyester staple fiber (PSF), films, etc, with good appearance, high fiber strength, and good colourability. FR-ZDP has benefits on good thermal stability, non-decomposition during spinning process, odorless, and the improved anti-static ability of materials.
In the PET system, a dosage of approx. 3% (by wt.) of FR-ZDP is usually sufficient to obtain the limiting oxygen index (LOI) higher than 30%.
In the PBT system, a dosage of 5%/10% (by wt.) of FR-ZDP combined with nitrogen-based flame retardants (e.g.melamine polyphosphates, melamine cyanurates), is sufficient to obtain the UL94 V-0 classification (1.6 or 0.8mm respectively).
Packing and Handling:
Delivery Form:
White powder.
Packing:
FR-ZDP is packed in paper-plastic bags with polyethylene inliner, 25.0kg per package.
Storage:
FR-ZDP must be sealed, stored in a dry and cool place.
