Non-halogenated Flame Retardant




Product Description

FR-50MS is a non-halogenated intumescent flame retardant based on piperazine pyrophosphates, particularly suitable for the polymers, such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), and filled PP (filler, e.g. mineral, glass fibre/ GF). This product achieves the most efficient flame retardant grade such as UL94 (V0, 0.75mm; 5VA, 2.0mm), 70 ℃ × 168 hours immersion test (UL746C), glow wire testing (glow wire ignition temperature test/GWIT 750℃; glow wire flammability index/GWFI 960 ℃ ).

Processing:

Pre-drying (e.g. 4h at 110℃) of FR-50MS is recommended, if even very low moisture content must be avoided.

FR-50MS and resin are mixed, care must be taken to ensure homogeneous dispersion of all compounds before extrusion. A certain degree of vacuum should be maintained during the twin-screw extrusion process. The temperature of polymer melting should not exceed 320℃.

Screens and a combination of weak shear screws are suggested to be used in the extrusion process. The optimum conditions for processing temperature of twin-screw should be determined in each individual case, the improved dispersion and plasticisation can be achieved by increasing the temperature.

FR-50MS may be affected by fillers or pigments (e.g. calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, phthalocyanine green), and its flame retardant effect may be reduced or even ineffective.




Packing and Handling:

Packing:

FR-50MS is packed in paper-plastic bags with polyethylene inliner, 25kg per package.

Storage:

FR-50MS should be stored in a dry and cool place, avoid direct sunlight. Partially emptied containers should be carefully resealed after use. It is however usually not necessary to pre-drying the product before use.
